Three shapes cover almost every ticket in Serbia: the single, the accumulator-style combination and the system. Do not read them as a ladder of courage. Each is a separate product, and picking one means deciding how many selections must land.
One selection
One selection, one price, settled on its own. It is the least exciting ticket and the easiest to evaluate, because the only question is whether the price is better than your estimate of the chance. Everything in reading odds applies directly, and nothing compounds.
When selections are joined
A combination puts several selections on one ticket: the prices multiply, and every leg must land. What lures people to a combination, the multiplying, is also its problem: the price grows, and so does the number of ways the ticket can fall.
Four selections at 1,50 each make a price of 5,06. If each one is genuinely a 67 per cent chance, all four land 20 per cent of the time — which puts a fair price near 5,00 and makes the ticket roughly fair. Eight such legs land together only about 4 per cent of the time, and the margin is paid eight times. The longer the combination, the less it is a bet on an opinion and the more it is a pile of margins.
The system
A system lays out every combination of a given size from your selections, and each carries its own share of the stake. Pick six and play 4 of 6 and the ticket becomes fifteen four-fold combinations, so two of the six can miss and the ticket still pays something.
| System | Combinations | Misses tolerated | Stake at 100 RSD a line |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 of 3 | 3 | 1 | 300 RSD |
| 3 of 4 | 4 | 1 | 400 RSD |
| 3 of 5 | 10 | 2 | 1.000 RSD |
| 4 of 6 | 15 | 2 | 1.500 RSD |
What the system buys is survival; what it costs is stake. The six legs that cost 100 RSD as one combination need 1.500 RSD as a 4 of 6 at 100 RSD a line. The exchange makes sense when most of the group is reliable and you cannot tell which leg will fail — not as an excuse to add more legs.
How to choose the shape
- One read you trust. Play a single. Legs added for the price rather than for the read only spoil a good ticket.
- Two or three confident calls, modest money. A short combination: three or four legs, not nine.
- A group you like as a group. A system, sized so the total stake is one you would have bet anyway.
The failure mode is always the same and is worth naming: the ticket gets built to reach a payout figure instead of out of the opinions actually held. That is where the stake stops being a choice. The rest of the section sits on the betting hub of Balkan Bet.
